Systematic Altruism

A quiet directory
of offerings

Works meant to help,
left out in the open air
where they might be found.

A living document · curated with care

i. a note before

This is a directory of free, careful work — resources for the body, the mind, the heart, and the world we share. Nothing here is being sold. Most of it was made because someone needed it, and then left out where others could find it.

There is no order you must read this in. Move slowly. Take what is useful. Leave the rest for someone else.

ii. where to begin

Eight offerings

If you have only a few minutes, these are the ones I would press quietly into your hand.

iii.

The body as home

The body is the first shelter. Tend it kindly, and it will slowly open its rooms to you.

iv.

Tending the mind

To learn slowly is still to learn. A single line, well read, is enough for an afternoon.

v.

When the dark comes

There is a light in the dark that is only visible from inside it. Wait for your eyes to adjust.

vi.

What the world asks

Name the trouble plainly, and already you have begun. Naming is half of care.

vii.

Hands that meet

Connection is not a resource; it is the medium. It thickens where attention is paid.

viii.

The work of days

Make something useful. Give it away. Then begin again tomorrow.

ix.

Ways of learning

The school is wherever the attention is.

x.

A commonplace book

The small notebooks kept open on the desk. Things worth returning to.

xi.

People who can help

Tried, trusted, not advertised. The old way of knowing who to call.

xii.

Maps to hidden rooms

Every city has rooms the guides forget. Half the art is learning where to look.

xiii. the still‑becoming

What is half‑finished

What is half‑finished is still becoming. Don't mistake the scaffold for the building.
